Simon started playing drums at the age of 11, and has been taking private lessons ever since. Along the way he has had the pleasure of studying with drummers Marko Djordjevic and Frank Marino. Simon is currently studying with Dom Famularo and John Favicchia.
At the age of 16, Simon was invited to play in the Friends of the Arts Dime Jazz Festival at the Planting Fields in Oyster Bay, NY, under the instruction of Rufus Reid, Adam Nussbaum, and Glen Drewes; he then joined them for another season. At 17 he was awarded a World Scholarship Tour scholarship to Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
Now 20 and pursuing an MBA, Simon is the drummer and backup vocalist for Greg Raposo, formerly of Dream Street. Some of the band's most notable shows include WBLI's Winterjam with Nick and Aaron Carter, at Nassau Coliseum in 12/02, and Popfest 4 at the Sovereign Bank Arena with Simple Plan in 1/03. More recently the band has played with Jordan Knight at BB King's in NYC, and at New York's July 4th celebration with Jefferson Starship at Capital Plaza in Albany, NY. In 11/03 Simon was asked to play his cajon on stage with Shania Twain at Nassau Coliseum for his second Nassau Coliseum appearance of that year.
Charitable Performances Include a celebrity AIDS benefit hosted by Jamie Lee Curtis at the Chelsea Piers with Pink, Mary J Blige and Michelle Branch, and the New York Mets 9/11 foundation benefit at Shea Stadium.
Simon currently endorses GMS drums, and actively uses Vic Firth drumsticks, Sabian and Zildjian cymbals, Yamaha electronic drums, Metrophones headphones, Fat Congas cajons, Remo djembes, Protection Racket drum cases, and DW hardware.
